Infertility Counseling

The IVF process and struggling with infertility can take a tremendous toll on individuals and couples who want to be parents.

Infertility counseling can help you consider your options and process emotional pain after going through infertility. Having an empathic support system and access to resources can help individuals and couples get through this difficult time and prevent it from becoming all-consuming.

As a former infertility patient myself, I know firsthand that trying to conceive can be stressful and overwhelming. I approach my clients from a strengths perspective and help you work to find the resilience and courage to carry on through your fertility journey.

I typically work with individuals going through or considering fertility treatment, individuals who have experienced pregnancy loss, individuals who are unable to have children, and individuals who are considering a donor, adoption, or surrogacy.

How Infertility Counseling Works:

  1. We will first schedule a free phone consultation to talk about your goals and how we might work together. If it’s a fit, I will send you some intake forms to fill out and we can get started.

  2. In our first session, we will discuss your goals for working together. I will develop a plan that includes modalities such as CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), positive psychology, empowerment theory, and psychotherapy.

  3. Each client looking for infertility counseling is unique and the therapy plan will vary based on you and your needs.

  4. You will have help navigating every step of your fertility journey, including breaking down what was recommended by your reproductive endocrinologist regarding testing or treatment, and coming up with a plan if applicable.

  5. During infertility counseling you will learn how to advocate for yourself as a patient and regain a sense of control that many individuals and couples coping with infertility experience. We will also help you set up your friends and family for success in terms of supporting you, and discuss how to navigate this with a partner (if applicable).

Being a fertility patient can be overwhelming, and you don’t have to go through it alone. Counseling will help you manage stress and feel empowered navigating your parenthood journey.

“Rena was a huge source of support to me while I went through fertility treatments, and I will never ever forget that. I am so grateful that I am on the other side of this journey.”
