Therapy Services
General Therapy
If you are experiencing struggles with anxiety, depression, a lack of self-esteem, or any other mental health problem, therapy can help. Through therapy, you can learn to better understand your feelings, manage life’s challenges, and find healthy coping mechanisms. I work with individuals and couples ranging from adolescent age to older adults.
Nutrition & Exercise Coaching
How we fuel our bodies plays a huge role in our health and wellbeing. It’s important to maintain healthy habits and look at how external influences can affect diet choices.
Nutrition and exercise coaching can help by providing tools to develop healthy habits and achieve your goals. I work with anyone looking to improve their relationship with food and movement.
Prenatal and Postpartum Counseling
I believe that a healthy mom equals a healthy baby, and preparing for your baby and recovering afterwards can take a toll on your mental health.
Prenatal and postpartum coaching will help you manage any stress and anxiety you’re feeling while navigating your parenthood journey.
I work with any individual who is pregnant or postpartum.
Fertility Counseling
As a former fertility patient myself, I know firsthand that coping with infertility can take a tremendous toll on individuals and couples who want to be parents. I believe that having an empathic support system and access to resources can help individuals and couples to get through this difficult time and prevent it from becoming all-consuming.
I typically work with individuals going through or considering fertility treatment, individuals who have experienced pregnancy loss, individuals who are unable to have children, and individuals who are considering a donor, adoption, or surrogacy.
Substance Abuse Counseling
Substance abuse counseling involves a variety of tactics to set you up for success. This can include individual therapy, family therapy, lifestyle & wellness coaching to help build healthy coping habits, and connecting you with outside resources that can be helpful in your recovery, like support groups or clinical care.
After our initial meeting, we’ll develop a therapy plan focused on your individual situation and needs.
Clinical Supervision
Rena offers case consultation and individual supervision to individuals seeking to gain hours for licensure or for professional development. She has extensive experience providing clinical supervision to early career social workers in a collaborative and supportive environment.
If you desire to build your own private practice, Rena will offer you her extensive experience, guidance and support. She consults with clinicians to create a successful private practice that is sustainable.
Psychotherapy
Life comes with many stresses and conflicts, and having a trusted professional to talk to can help you deal with these struggles as they arise. Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, helps you learn how to take control of your life and develop healthy coping skills. I offer an individualized therapy approach for each client to address the areas where they need help.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Negative thoughts can lead to unhelpful behaviors and coping mechanisms. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps you change behavioral patterns and problematic thinking to address challenging situations in a healthy way. As a form of talk therapy, CBT can be very helpful in treating mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
In the same way that the body recovers from physical trauma, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy helps your mind heal from traumatic and difficult events. This method of therapy requires specific eye movements while you work through traumatic memories. It’s a well-known treatment for PTSD but it can also treat anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders.
Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Regulating and managing intense emotions is a difficult skill to master, but dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT) can help. DBT is a type of CBT that teaches mindfulness and how to change unhelpful thought patterns to better deal with stressful situations. Initially, DBT was developed to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD) but can also treat addiction, eating disorders, anxiety, and more.
Positive Psychology
You don’t just have to survive – you deserve to thrive and flourish. Positive psychology focuses on deep happiness and a true sense of meaning and purpose. By capitalizing on your strengths, positive psychology helps to heighten gratitude and awareness of the world around you to live a more fulfilling life.
Empowerment Theory
If you regularly experience a feeling of helplessness, empowerment theory-informed therapy can help you regain control and get your needs met. Empowerment theory helps instill confidence that you have the ability to change your circumstances and address negative thinking patterns.
